  • Why is it difficult to achieve large-scale production of Micro LED

Micro LED has high definition, low power consumption, and long lifespan, making it a highly anticipated next-generation mainstream technology in the display industry. However, the extremely high technological barriers, including advanced technology and complex processes called LED transfer, make it difficult to mass produce Micro LEDs, greatly limiting the commercialization process of Micro LEDs. Although Apple has the design and manufacturing process for Micro LED screens, it relies on other partners for mass production and LED transfer operations.
But ultimately, the biggest obstacle currently limiting the development of the Micro LED market is high costs. Last year, market research firm OMDIA released a cost report for Micro LED display panels, with the cost of 10-14 inch Micro LED panels reaching 6000-10000 US dollars, equivalent to a maximum of over 70000 RMB. Meanwhile, the report points out that this data is only a cost estimate based on the price of 10.1-inch Micro LED panels, rather than manufacturer quotes. In practical situations, manufacturers usually add a 10-20% premium to their quotations to ensure profitability.
